So many, in all directions, are ready to freak out this week for all these plaguing conditions we have to drive us to fear. The economy . . . The election . . . The rumor of wars . . . The chaotic Internet . . . who knows. It seems everything is getting to us. No better time then right before we have to fork out lots of moolah to express our holiday cheer, right?
What can I say? There’s no better time in the world like anytime that you are secure in the power of God. I’m a devout Christian, you might say, and if you know what’s really going on in the world (because God has manifested His plan for the ages) then there’s not too much reason to fear in these difficult times.
And if anyone had reason to fear it would be me. I have a new family. I’ve got a precious little baby girl. I am feeling the economy crunch just like everyone else.
But God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear—to those that are filled with the Holy Spirit. I will to be more like Him . . . To rise above what we think we cannot understand, and grasp hold of God’s true eternal plan for the ages.
If you are a non-believer, I don’t know how you do it. I think that the unsaved are some of the gutsy-est people on the face of Earth. I couldn’t imagine going through this life—let alone the next—exposed to all these dangers and worries without something stable as a “constant.”
God is my constant. He is more real in my life than any man-made illusion of “crisis.” For God there is no crisis. And there never will be.
There is no time like the present for Christians to demonstrate a little more self-control and endurance than like the present. It isn’t time for us to give up. It’s time for us to take charge of our actions. It is time to persevere. It is time to be filled with all hope.
It is time to be more like Him.
