Thanks for the tip, Tnuncest. I am familiar with the feather case by Incipio. It's one of the best. The reason I don't recommend it though is that it's missing a magnet in the back that would hold Apple's Smart Cover in place when you want to fold the cover back, and not necessarily remove if from the iPad. If Incipio's design would magnetically hold the smart cover on the back, I'd strongly support it and I would use it.

The one cover that I know uses a magnet in the back, like I'm talking about, is Speck's SmartShell, which is listed in the post above.

I don't know that I said get away from it. I think it is best for most users if you keep writing tasks simple. The more back-and-forth you take files to and from various devices you might be better off with another app. In the case of the iPad, you won't be able to find a more compatible app for word processing to and from your desktop or laptop. If your version of Pages on the computer is not new enough, there your problem. You should be using a newer version of Pages

That article was "interesting" to say the least! Very well put... the beauty of God's sovereignty as it relates to salvation is that He sets our wills free so that we CAN "choose" to follow Him!

John 8:34-36 "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."

Wow... I'm intrigued. Authors such as Piper are known for examining truths of deep theology. And when they show that they are not so rigid that they cannot also apply those core, underlying, foundational truths to real life through the stories, it really hits home. Those truths are no longer confined to words and concepts alone, but are shown to blossom out into expressions of reality.
And using comics is icing on the cake!

Your argument is interesting, but I have some withdrawals. I won't bother with a step by step analysis, but insted I'll make a substitution to illustrate my concern.

Let's do a find and replace. We have the iPhone, which is a closed standard and the Android which is a (relatively) open standard. Now, lets do a mental "find and replace" now the article has Flash, which is a closed standard and HTML5 which is a (relatively) open standard. Now re-read this article. Ah, do we see now?

The fact is, it is not an issue of conformity or "attempted non-conformity," but rather, it is a competition in the marketplace and this is a good thing. Look at it from a big picture, the goal is to glorify God, and so an iPhone and an android phone are not merely "smartphones," but are tools for communication. One is not always better than the other in every instance, though one may be more frequently better -and both seek to be this one, this is competition, this fuels innovation to better enable us to communicate with each other to accomplish our higher purpose.

This leads me to what I perceive as the fundamental logical flaw of your reasoning. While there are moral absolutes and we do reason from them, at the remotest end of our reasoning there can be more than one option that is correct. This is not because of a moral relativity, but because there are two means of reasoning from the absolute - conclusive, which will allow only one correct outcome; and determinative, which allows more. To illustrate, take murder, there is only one acceptable qualitative judgment of it - it is wrong; but taking driving on the right side of the road, it can be right - if you are in America, but terribly wrong if are in the UK. When a government says you must drive on the right and another says you must drive on the left - neither of them are wrong - the moral absolute, is don't hurt other drivers - how it is accomplished is determinative.

You implicitly assert a "conclusive" moral judgment on what communication tool to use, when in fact the issue is one of "determinative" moral judgment. Depending on ones circumstances their election of hand-held device could rightly result in either without some "rebellious" materialistic breach of conformity.

Indeed my friend, you inadvertently provide the most excellent example in the standards of electricity. Edison was promoting Direct Current electricity on a municipal and regional scale, he was countered by Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse who promoted Alternating Current. Edison is a good comparison to Jobs, he painted AC as dangerous and un-healthy. Yet today, whenever you plug anything into a wall you are getting AC energy (because it is more efficiently transmitted)- Westinghouse's standard - because Edison's standard did NOT prevail in that arena, but indeed DC is still prevalent in hand held or battery powered devices because it is a steady current, it in your laptop and cellphone, but not in your lights or your monitor or your alarm clock. Both have there place

Good points, standards are important and both sides have them, but be careful about your conclusions.

Yet today, whenever you plug anything into a wall you are getting AC energy (because it is more efficiently transmitted)- Westinghouse’s standard – because Edison’s standard did NOT prevail in that arena, but indeed DC is still prevalent in hand held or battery powered devices because it is a steady current, it in your laptop and cellphone, but not in your lights or your monitor or your alarm clock. Both have there place

Good points, standards are important and both sides have them, but be careful about your conclusions.

I am going to order the set today. I was really happy to see there were study materials to go with it. I think it was very smart to post them online without having to purchase the set first. I googled for more sample clips but was disappointed to only find a couple.

Looks like Glenn Beck is making progress. My ivy-league-educated, non-believing brother has been watching Beck's "Civics class" shows every night and actually said to me something like 'did you know our government is designed for a moral population and can't work without it?' It looks like getting this type of information out will make a big difference for good.

Thanks for doing this work; I look forward to seeing it.

Welcome to the blog, Breezy.

I always thought there was something to be said for Mockup 1. I know it's highly abstract, but it conveys something has been made muddled and mirky, but that that the truth can still be brought to light. It also plays up on colors that were inspired by the word "Myths" in the title. I thought the colors were suitable for "myths."

On the basis of Holmes' drug usage you can't say that he lacks moral upstanding. In his day, the 19th century, cocaine was used in the original Coca-Cola (hence, the 'Coca' in the product name). Most drugs that are understood today as addictive and morally/culturally objectionable were new to Great Britain at large. Dr. Watson prescribed cocaine to Holmes in the first place.

This isn't to say that it is condoned in the books either. Holmes' personal perspective of drugs is not really stated, leaving the reader to wonder just what Holmes' really thinks of the matter. Once he was addicted to it, there wasn't any reason to assume that he needed to stop using it.

Joe,

Great article. I always enjoy reading passages of Scripture where God is pleased by certain things. I think about David, and how the Scriptures call him handsome. I also like the correlation of enjoying God's Creation. There is so much we can learn through the beautiful Creation. Yeah some things are dangerous and wild, but isn't it the same with GOD. I think C.S. Lewis said it best. "He is not a tame Lion."

Blessings,
